my mum works and my nan is 83 (dont think she'd like to look after her all the time lol ) and it would cost about the same for a childminder as i would get in wages so there would be no point in that

ffs everyone lay off Chloe for once. It's not like you guys haven't got the option to have kids and stay home is it? She's not getting anything more than anyone else in this thread is entitled to should you choose to take it. You do what you want to do and she'll do what she wants to do and keep each others noses out of each others business. The thread isn't about her work situation. Gets old, really does.
Some people like me don't have the option of free grandparents day care, etc. Our parents are only in their early 50's and both still work and our grandparents are dead. Chloe is right, day care is a nightmare to pay for, near on £500 a month for one full-time child. Plus, who's the better parent, the one that's there at home with them or the one at work? Bit sad when your kids know their carers better than their parents, but whatever floats peoples boats.

id rather someone stayed home with their children than went to work. The whole of society is crumblling because theres no family unit anymore and people are complaininmg about a woman anting to actually bring up her own kids WTF

I know the OP doesn't want an estate but I've got an old mk2 Mondeo estate, boot is big enough for our two greyhounds (could comfortably fit a third in there too if we wanted) and the cabin is big enough for driver + 4 passengers.
Plus it costs fuck all to buy one and I must say (awaits flames) that it's actually more reliable than any Vauxhall I've ever owned
When myself and my other half want to have kids one of us (most likely her) will stay at home with the brat(s), we worked it it's more cost effective for one of us to stay home and maybe do some kind of part time job while the other works full time rather than paying silly money for child care and never seeing the kids (or our dogs for that matter lol).

cloes hubby works so wheres the problem, he pays in she takes out, if my lass was up the sticks id get her to do the same, well maybe 16hours for tax credits but as shes said its not faesable in her situation. its the people when no1 works that boils my piss, with him working she will pay proper rent the only thing she will get is child support and dole

Agreed, my Freelander boot was smaller than most of the hatchbacks I've owned. Not bad for leg room in the back tho.

freelander werent they rated 2 in the euro encap safty test!! as bad as a old saxo, rover 1.8 engine is crap and why the need for another chelsea tractor cluttering the roads

A Chealsea tractor is a Range Rover/High end 4x4 as its a "posh" car whereas a Freelander is not. Plus a Freelander probably takes up about as much room as a Mondeo or Omega.

A freelander is hardly a typical fuel guzzling beast like a Range. They were rated 2 tho and yes the 1.8 is pants. Keep a few spare head gaskets in the boot

anything thats a 4x4 and doesnt see anyhing rougher than the kerb outside your house is a chelsea tractor, also i really hate the new breed of vehicles that look like a 4x4 but are only front wheel drive,how big do cars need to be!

We had a 3.2gls Shogun which easily fitted 2 big dogs (rottweiler and a labrador), me, my brother and mum and dad plus shopping. Was reliable, cant remember it having a single problem in the time we owned it, and not too bad on fuel either
