strange as it sounds, ive gone off the astra gsi, due its dash being quite bland./flat.
so looking at evo's
now i can afford a 4, and possibly stretch to a 5
can you guys tell me what goes wrong with them both, common faults. etc and what tolook for when buying one

things can and will go wrong.... just like any car.
Go for the newest car you can afford... 4's look shite next to a 5.
Just make sure its had a decent life in the UK... check the history/paperwork. It should have fresh oil every 3-5k miles, check there are no horrible noises/baulks from the box or diffs.

Not to be one of these guys that tries to put you off but is it not the 4s that suffered from crank walk?

i prefer the look of the 4's over 5's tbh, front looks meaner
but 6's were probably the best

I'd say an Astra gsi interior/dash is better than a battered old evo's tbh.

Yes it is indeed but its over rated tbh we had our 4 for a good bit, it took a beating most of the time and had no problems.
You look after them they will look after you! Keep on top of the services ect.
Fire over to the MLR for any info good much of people over there

As what AK has said, but i would avoid the Evo 4, unless you go for the RS model which does away with the AYC and is a better all rounder if you really want the Evo4.
the 5 is a better choice!!!
one of the problems which goes around with Evo's is Crank Walk, specially on early evo's till no.4
if you have a budget, look at earlier Evo's such as 2's and 3's.
