After reading the 96p insurance thread I remembered that my insurance is due next month so after having no success whatsoever with comparison sites in the past I thought I'd try again just to see what I might be looking to pay at renewal time.

So genuine quote came first.

22 years old, 5 years ncb, license 5 years, 3 points on a 1.2 16v SXi with all mods declared...

£1722.41

That was the one quote I got, the rest couldn't quote.

So then I decided to see just how much I'm getting raped for my mods

So same details on a standard car...

£605.18

£1100 and a bit better.

Now I wonder why there's so many people that don't declare mods

p.s. I know that first quote is nothing like what I'll actually pay but some people must use these sites to get an idea of how much extra it'll cost to add a certain mod onto their car and tbf when they see a difference like that, what are the chances of them actually declaring stuff once they've seen a hike in price like that?

I've done that once before, saved me about £50 off the renewal but even the original renewal quote was about £300 less than any other company I tried. I don't know what it was but Norwich Union smashed every other company the past 3 years for me, shame when I came to renew last year they wouldn't insure more than 3 mods

Try Admiral bud:

21 years old, 2 years ncb, license 3 years, 0 points on a 1.4 16v CDX with all mods declared

£555.02

obviously you have points and I don't, but according to Parkers.co.uk CDX is a group 7 car, not sure if SXi is that high?

I don't know why it is but I always get raped on insurance, even when I shop about. Last year I got quotes varying from 719 to a few that where over a grand then you come on hear and there's people younger than me, less no claims insuring XE's for the same as my 1.2

I suspect my location mustn't be to great in insurance companies eyes
