Me and a few mates are looking into renting a unit
Only problem is I've spent 30 minutes on the internet and can't seem to find the right thing to search for.
Any tips?

Believe it or not, self store companies are being used by people for a lot. Normally they are smaller rooms to store your shit in, but they come with power.
I saw on the news some people using them for music studios, dance studios, wardrobes, etc etc.
There is a self store near where I work that has full sized units like you're on about however that might be just for bigger things like sofas. May be worth a try.

Surely that's illegal deano?
I dunno the laws on it, but if it's advertised as storage, surely legally it can only be used for that?

Apparently not, otherwise they wouldn't have had it on the news, I'm sure.
http://www.bigyellow.co.uk/specialist/ - they do office space, so it might be classed as that, but I doubt it.

A good sized unit with elect/gas and water will be a good 400 a month

I took me a few months to find mine. Emailing lots of agents and general hunting. Just search for local commercial estate agants close to you. Gumtree.com sometimes throws some up so try on there.
