Unless of course you meant the middle of the road detuned 2.0 16v? That had been phased out in the Astra H and replaced with the more efficent 1.6 16v Turbo, so it's not a new thing at all.
The 2.0 16v Turbo will be in the VXR, it had been suggested that the 2.2 16v with a supercharger was to be used from the GM parts bin but that idea was canned quite early on.

vxr mothership is Stu Harris the VXR brand manager at Vauxhall
The thread where it's been discussed
http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=66018
And an interview with him
http://www.torqueastra.com/content/q-and-stuart-harris-vauxhall%E2%80%99s-group-product-manager-totallymotors-adam-leveridge
The 2.2 16v thing is wrong as Stu mentions in the thread on VXRonline.

I quite like it but the SRI doesn't look smart enough, the optional wheels are nice but front bumper is a bit bland?
Just configured a 2.0 CDTI with the normal sort of options you would have these days and it came to £23,655

You wouldn't pay that, only a mug would pay that.
More likely 17k at a dealership and some negotiation.

Those prices on the Vauxhall website are just ridiculous, you could have it discounted further if you know someone that works within the partners scheme, you don't even need to be related in some cases.

I like it inside and out, all of those are the base models you are looking at, when they start bringing out the XP kits and 3 doors they will look much better.

You'd have thought the SRI would come with the XP kit as standard to distinguish it from the base models, shouldn't have to spend extra to make it look like an SRI!

AFAIK partners or associates only applies to the list price. I don't think you can get discount on a discount.

Why are bumpers on newer cars gradually working their way up the car? the bonnets on modern cars are tiny

due to Health and Safty and making it easier for people to bounce off the cars....
Warrante? 45k here, and not a single issue with it.
I saw the sketches for the VXR a while back, 20" optional, looks a bit like a Sirrocco, but looks a vast improvement and much more menacing than the current VXR.

People are on the windup Daimo, I've had 1 fault with 3 VXR's and that was a known issue to the 08 cars.

Ours was one of the early examples (uknow, the ones were all faults ahppen, then get corrected as the 07/08/09 cars came out).....
Not one single problem, other than Donna kerbing one side of the car, and some f*cker keying the drivers door.... Hardly Vauxhalls fault.
I'd say its morelike those reading max Power, and not actually OWNING the cars myself, but meh im old and opinionated, what do I know? Nothing....

out of 6 people i know with them, all of them have had nothing but problems. one of them is onto its 3rd gearbox in 2 years. 3 out the 6 have had gearbox's explode and various other electrical faults also. doesnt make them a bad car though. just not that reliable.
