got my self a new phone tooday with a 12mp camera so me and macky n ozzy went out for a few pics and macky with his new bad boyed and extend'd bonnet

It may be 12mp but the lense will be too small, thats why camera with better lenses with lower mp are still better.

It's the sensor size.

The 12mp sensor is the same size as say a 6mp one.

Because the sensor is the same size they both get the same amount of light, which isn't enough for the 12mp sensor hence the noise.

The same does not hold true (in general) for SLR's and the likes, which people get confused with.
