if the vehicle has just had a mot and your mate who is a mot tester says it should of failed then lodge a complaint with the dvla as they can close down any garage thats doing dodgey mot's.
also any buisnes/garage/dealer has to give a 3 month warrenty by law and if they wont honor that then they can be done over through breach of the trade description act!!! hope that helps

Mine was 106k and we only paid 500quid for it ages ago so we well and truly had our money back off it.
Also had a crack down the rear subframe, and knackered wheel bearing, so wasnt worth sorting it in my eyes,

So we went back and had it out with the garage.
basically ive got to write the list of problems, and there going to fix it all for free. Made myself a nice big list.
-cambelt kit
-waterpump
-egr
-headgasket
-new nuts for the inlet
-fix the bad idling( mite be to to with the cam tensioners)
-e.m.l turns on at high speed.
-new disks and pads.
-few other bits and bobs.
pretty happy with the result tbh, just got to go without a car for a few days.
CHeers for the advice guys

If the car only cost £750 they'd sooner scrap it than repair that lot
Think you'll be getting a refund.

Well when you buy from a garage you get a 6 month warranty on it anyway so i cant understand why you was in a huff in the first place.
