I wish i'd opted for the free lift home instead.............

Its strange indeed!! I hate how green car companies are getting!!

Saving grace today was a phat '59 V8 in the showroom, every option - spec'd to £62k - Individual Blue with black wheels. I nearly came!! Sad though as I doubt there will be another one (V8) coming with the next model!!

in what context

In terms of reliability its never let me after 45k and starts almost instantly

As for emissions not sure it works but with 215 BHP and 128 on emissions it does my tax code wonders

Do all 1 series have these then?

I dont mind it & wouldnt say I dont trust it. It just baffles me actually how many tree's you can actually save switching the engine off at a set of traffic lights, your never stopped generally for more than a minute!!

Its certainly strange...........keep thinking folk will be thinking I keep stalling!!

I would think most new BMWs will have it and the Minis do aswell.

Lots of manufacturers are doing it now, it does make it look like you have stalled at the lights but the one I went in with it started up straight away when I needed it to no fuss or bother.

Father has it on his new LR Freelander TD4e

It is worth it if the engine is off for more than 15 seconds, I think it is. If any less than that though, it is supposed to be actually worse.

I had a 1 series as a courtesy car and didn't have any problems with the stop-start system as it almost start instantly when you want to go.

All the clever sstuff on the engines gives me great performance and MPG so not really bother

And POW it will go back before 100k so not arsed

Audi think its ground breaking that they have started it together with common rail derv

haha - get with the times

I'm sure it's been put through the same tests that any other brand new BMW would have. There starter motors are the most advanced as well they use some fancy integrated starter generator, it's not an every day starter motor.

try driving through london during the daytime and you'll see how much difference it would make. it took me over 3 hours to do 10 miles in the centre of london before that was on a saturday. awful congestion.
