Have a look under the oil cap for mayo, for an indication to see if the headgasket is on its way out.

Will check all stuff like that, Is there any common problems with them?
Are the 1.2s chain driven not belt?
Thanks.

Chain driven, so obviously check for a noisy chain.
Track rod ends - check for play in all front suspension components.
Window motors can be temperamental.
Other than that, they are quite reliable and very common so easy to get bits for.

Will have a good look over it.
Thanks.

gear linkage was only a recall on some years, cant remember which, it was changed around 2005 though to a metal one, just depends what year of car it is you are looking at.

the abs recall means it will have a plastic/rubber cover over the abs pump/unit next to the fuse box

check for wet carparts in the front there prone to leak arround the pollen filter casing and water gets into the relay boy which is expensive
check the springs are there prone to snapping
steering coloumns are bad for breaking
cv boot clips tear the rubber and end up needing the boot replaced as there tear where the clip goes
gear selector, if its a plastic one then the forst thing you should do is replace it with a metal one
timing chain engine so check for rattles also check for oil leaks

gear linkage is a bugger on C's but not expensive to fix. ABS recall - can set fire to the car because theres circuitry exposed to the elements I think? Older ones rattle like hell (as I know lol)
