Hope Ian is alright with this.

I am helping out a mate who has his own after market car parts distribution company. Next year he really wants to get the company name out there by attending a lot more shows with a trade stand, also by going to some track/action days.

I've got 2 main questions,

1. What would you say the main/biggest shows are for each 'scene' (ie, vag, vaux, jap, etc)

2. When you go to a show, do you/have you ever bought expensive items there and then (few hundred upto about 1k)? Or do you mainly buy little items?
Also if you did see an expensive item you liked, would you be happy paying with your credit/debit card there and then, or would you prefer to be able to buy it within 30days or so at the same price?

Thanks in advance

Mod nats, they is quite alot of stores there. Only problem is your competing with a lot of other stores, and they is no chance any 1 will spend up to 1k at a show.

1. Don't really understand the question, vag shows are massive, edition38, but then theres fast ford, jap fest and pvs... if he's wanting to target a particular audience?

2. I've bought items up to £200 at shows before, paid cash, as a lot of the stalls look dodgy

We've decided we want to try to go to all the biggest shows for each scene, so he can take stock that will fit most of the cars (eg for a vag's, most cars have same/similar fittings, so would only need to take a few different types, where as going to donny, trax or whatever, he can only take stuff for the more popular cars)

Ideally want a list for each scene

Vag - edition 38 or GTi International
Ford - Ford fair?
Vaux - PVS
Jap - Jap show?
French - French car show?
any others?

I went to usc with my mate and the stalls were shite, being a non marque specific show there was just cheap universal tat! Urban x rubbish and all that crap

only decent stalls were the auto glym and one of the detailers

trouble with shows is access to a cash machine, they're usually pretty scarce, so if he takes cc details and puts them through say on the following Monday as a mail order transaction I wouldn't see a problem with that

he would have to take the right products to the specific shows too. Exhausts, bumpers and wheels etc wouldn't be the easiest thing to transport, but if he had a catalogue of his stock he could take orders

what sort of products are we talking About anyway?

There's shows for pretty much every marque, Alfa have a national event called Alfa day, it's mainly the older alfa's though

He specialises in Brakes and Seats (things you sit on not the cars).

He's got a mobile card machine so he can do transactions where ever (including the pub too!).
