looking for a car for my mum, and megane is one of few cars where she can reach pedals ( she is 150cm in height)
I test drove 3 meganes today ( i have to say the 1.6 16v is rather nippy, especially when petrol is free) and in every single one of them, when i changed gear (smoothly) the gear leaver was all over the place...
first one had 57k miles
second 77k miles
third 69k(I think it was clocked though as my 95k mile car looks x10 better!)
so i want to know if its normal or not.. i know that gear box mount goes on these, but i though it was at highier milleage? off to see a fourth megane in a bit too!

The indication that the mount had gone on my Mum's was that the gear lever shook when you turned the engine off. It was never really 'all over the place', unless you mean that you can move it a fair bit while in gear, which is pretty normal for the Megane and Laguna, if not other Renaults.

strangely, i am tallest inmy family, by a lot...
James,
when i changed the gear gear lever was moving about 2 inches or there abouts....
also, all 3 cars felt so different! first one was the best though i thought..
shame my mum thinks that 33mpg in VTS is low, and we didn't go test drive it
