having none at all will make the flash fast

you can either mount them in the inners, mount them behind the grill or you can get a set of side repeaters on the front with 21w bulbs

i have som e flexible orange led strips and put them underneath, will get pics if you want,

you may also need a resistor to slow down the flash as leds / no bulbs will draw less current, making the circuit think it has a bulb blown

I have fitted a set of 501 side light bulbs into the inner lenses.
If you use anything less than a 21w bulb up front you'll probably need to fit resistors so the lights don't flash fast as the circuit will think a bulb has blown.
This way you may have problems with MOT as the front bulbs should be 21w, all depends how strict your tester is.
You could fit a couple of 21w bulbs some just for the MOT.

You can just make out the bulb fittings in this picture.

I will divulge my secret to you all.. Motorcycle bulbs I drilled a hole in the inner lamp, about 15mm in diameter, and fitted parking light holders but put 23watt amber motorcycle bulbs in. There are the same size as a 501 sidelight bulb, maybe bigger, but flash bright, don't turn the lamp orange with reflection from the bulb and passed the NCT here in Ireland. SIMPLES

Fine using sidelight bulbs but at night with your dim's on you wont see the indicator So motorbike bulbs are better, and no need for resistor..
Not very noticeable

Like the parking like bulb which comes as standard..

Just need to strip down the lamps, drill them and have the parts needes, grommit, bulb holder etc..

Um well it started as a smashed morette inner....... a plastic sub port, fibreglass, filler and black paint later it was a port
I got so pissed of with the port looking gash i did it properly and it obviously all bolts in as a lamp unit.
Might have a pic some where of what it looked like.
