Yay or Nay
With my hopes of a 172 dashed by insurance quotes and shit, MX5s have cropped up alot in convo on Saxp
Im seriously wanting one now, looking at the Mark 1 1.6 Eunos model
Just part of me isn't sure about them
Pro's:
-RWD
-Japanese Reliability
-Cheap to Buy
-Insurance is £735 a year

Cons:
-The inevitably being called a bender all the time for driving a 'hairdressers' car
-Modifying costs; its pretty expensive to get upgrade parts for them

What does everyone else think?

I think you should get an mx5, sod what people say. Ours is shocking condition but its a track car. There is a guy on here with a black one on ronal ts', looks sooo good, not girly at all.

Probably just a bad example. Never hear of MX5's putting a foot wrong tbh.

would it cost a lot more in insurance to get a 1.8 instead of a 1.6? would be a lot better.

I think you should stop listening to what everyone else thinks of your money, and do what makes YOU happy.

MX5 is an awesome little car, and anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn't know a damn thing about cars and should be laughed at for their ignorence.

Brilliant little cars. Proof that power isn't everything.

You don't NEED to do too much too them thats why

Argueable, more power but heavier car. On paper there isnt much in it speed wise, weve shed a lot of weight of our 1.6 so im hoping it will be better in the corners than any 1.8

Brilliant little cars, I've had mine a month or so and any excuse to drive and im there I changed the wheels on mine and it completly transformed the look of the car and people who gave me the hairdresser remarks when I first bought it all changed their mind now
