If my car was sold and that was closer to home etc id seriously be interested. If its up for £2500 ono,you could try for maybe £2200-£2300.Jazz blue is a nice colour and not as common as black/silver/red.And its an early model so will have no T/C and the better bottom end and im pretty sure these models have a bigger ported head.

IMO thats a decent price.

Black aint my thing Silver is a nice contrast on that colour, don't plan on doing much bodywise if I get it.

Bodywork is mint, had a good nosey tonight, not a mark on it!

Need a drive of it really before I get too excited about the prospect of it

Should the gearbox feel tight or are they naturally sloppy on these? Anything else I should notice on the drive?

They are very nice to drive - everything is a light touch! Check cambelts been done and water pumps are common aswell for breaking

i personally wouldnt pay 2.5k for that, offer 1800 and see where you go from there.

overall they will go on forever aslong as it has been serviced on time, also check to see if its had the turbo replaced as this is something you could get landed with, and like everyone else says check when the cambelt was done.

if it drives well, has been looked after and you can get it abit cheaper then go for it, i was seeing a girl a while back who had a w reg mk4 golf that had done 110k on a 1.6 and it was very well screwed together and felt like a very solid car that would just eat up the miles.

10 times better biult and more solid than my 306td thats only a year older

i nearly choked when i read that.If the seller has a brain in his head theyr is no way he will let that go for £1500.Its worth £2200 all day long. Its not a common colour for the 20VT and its clean with SH.Id be surprised if he dropped much below his asking price.

Arranged go see it, so sorted my big list of stuff to check which took a couple of hours this morning to prepare I guess.. Got there, "sorry mate someones agreed to buy it 15 mins ago" and now looking around it does seem the best looking example for the price which is anywhere near me.

Bloody typical lol.

Still looking about, had a chat with this guy about his car...

What do you reckon folks, and what price would you put on it?

quote:
2000 W
AGU engine (big port head)
Satin Silver (Not usual Reflex)
82k but used daily
Tax end of July 09
MOT 14th August 09
FSH
Cambelt @ 60k
Recaro Interior unmarked
Air Con
Electric windows and mirrors
Rear Headrests
Multiple airbags
6 disc changer in boot
Re-mapped to 197 bhp by R-Tech

£2995

Spoke to him, no problems with it, everything works... pretty much mint in and out, tyres good brakes good etc. No ECU lights, no codes on vagcom coming up and so on..

I've made him an offer to which he's accepted, obviously pending my viewing and being happy with the car...

But wanted see what the masses thought

Oh believe me I offered a damn site lower than that! lol!

The milage is pretty good but it's still a W reg. Already remapped though which'd save me a job I guess. Lowish tax and mot though.

Get my Golf on monday at long last Already had a bit done to it... finally sold my Corsa so I can afford it!

Didn't get one with a mint milage as such but got a good car indeed compared to many I viewed. Tis a 1.8 20vt of course in Cosmic Green, few bits done... remapped, lowered, audi tt wheels, 4motion front splitter, passat badge @ the back, rear spoiler, tints, loads of r32 interior bits... all the common things that fail have been done, polybushed rear, poly dog leg mount, new engine mounts.. enthusiast owned for 3.5 yrs, a sargeant in the RAF lol.. dead genuine guy and picky about everything mechanical which I guess is good for me! I'm paying 2250 - milage is only downside @ 126k but the car is one of the best ive viewed (and driven, drives more like 60k.. pretty tight indeed). Hopefully it wont break on me!

Gonna miss the Corsa though but hopefully the Golf will be a much better car for someone my age
