I think between 2 is ok, spilt everything 50/50, but if one stacks it they pay.

The financial thing is the biggest concern. If it's likely that they'll try and dodge payment then don't even consider it.

Think me and a friend are going to do this next summer some time, between two of us will be much easier than 3 or more.

Just have some sort of kitty agreement. I.e, you all stick £500 in to start, when stuff needs buying you all put £100 in at the same time. That way if one doesn't put it nothing gets done and you won't be out of pocket?

Why not just buy a car between you and then stick say £1k into a bank account that pays all repairs (regardless of fault) and bills? then when thats gone top it up, if a person does not top up with there share they are excluded?

If you know they can do it financial then go for it. If they are skint sometimes don't bother. As people have said, all stick £XXX in and use that money to mod, repair, run etc. If someones stacks it i would split costs of repairs, recovery, whatever, half to the driver who stacks it and the other two pay the other half 25/25 or you all pay same costs.

Seems like a good idea in your head but in reality can be a ball ache which just isn't worth it

If I was going to share a track car with two mates, it would have to be an utter shitter that only cost a couple of hundred each, so if someone does end up stacking it, then it's no major loss really.

yup.... try it in your M3 first. See if its for you.

Then if you like it just buy something for yourself

I've had friends wanting to buy into the Impreza but it would just get complicated, and who gets it when etc

The only thing that concernes me is they are always moaning about being skint, there well keen to get a car but I can just see 6 months down the line it needing some funds and them pulling out all the excuses and me being left with it.

Using the M3 would be an option but a set of rear tyres would be the same cost as what I had in mind.

The idea from my point of view is the get something cheap to start with, then if I get into it as a hobby then buy something better just for myself.

So just a bit of fun to start with!! Im away to look at Ford Pumas after reading Ians post

Only thing is it would need to be road legal as none of u have any means to tow!! :\

All the falling out issues and cost sharing aside, I wouldn't ever like to think I was working hard on a car, goes to track and then one of the guys piles it up, I would be gutted.

The only track car I've shared/given away was my last c20let Corsa, and that was because it was with my brother who I 100% trusted to prepare himself right before he went out in it, if he was to pile it up or ruin something on it then he would have done it through lack of experience and nothing else.

It brings back fond memories of our track outings actually, we'd warm the car up with 5 or 6 laps, get to know the track (if it was a new one we'd never been to) then he'd do his times and I've try my best to shave atleast 3/4 of a second off it for a pint of Guinness and a pub lunch.
