coilpack goes quite a bit on the 2.2

The sri's are quite nippy tho and handle well for a big car

base models are utter shite, the only thing i dislike about the sri's are that they dont have a sport button like the astra's etc

Dad used to have a y reg. Vectra b i think, 2.2 sri dti 130. Was quick for a diesel.

Fuel pump went on his, vauxhall quoted £1400 to replace, they said it needed programming to the car etc, which was utter bollox as he got a reconditioned one for somewhere around £800, fitted himself, bled diesel through and it fired.

Also, the anti rollbar links went often!

Appart from that was a great car.!

Our works Astra van diesel pump went, that was around £800 to replace!

I had a Vectra 2.2 SRi (B shape) about a year ago now, was a great car, excellent on fuel, pretty quick for a big motor and did handle well.

Didnt miss a beat in the time i had it (about a year), was a v low mileage example though

Things to look out for are the rear bushes and rusty arches etc..

I fitted switchable traction control and cruise control to mine, the guys on VVOC are very helpful and their classified section is great especially for some well looked-after cheap Vectras

If its a Vectra B, make sure it has been serviced regularly as the timing chains are nutourious for snapping if they havent and 9 times out of 10 its a new/reconditioned head

Get the 1.9 cdti 150 bhp engine. by far the best all rounder.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

also don't allways listen to the hype of this goes that goes and also this goes

one common fault i have had to fix tho has been the wiper linkage as it pops off also check amnd make sure that the handbreak has been recalled for its failure....

also as above regular oil change's with an oil filter will help out as the oil jet that lubes the timing chain can become clogged up over time with crap in the oil
