I think if I got more than 2 fines I'd be putting a standard on. They look better, but not that much better.

Tbh i dont think they are really bothered, if you drive like a bell end and give them a reason to stop you, they would probly bring it up. I was told about 3 or 4 times to change my small plate on my old car, never gave me no fine or paperwork etc so just left it. If i was given a producer i would have changed it.

I always had mine spaced right, just with a bolt in the stick of the G to make it look like a C. Best idea I think is to have back pretty much Legal, lessens the chances.

I think Lou should be fine as her car isn't likely to attract attention from the police. I wouldn't have an illegal one on a modified car. It's just giving them a reason to pull over.

Gf was stopped the other day for a couple of panda's to have a quick word to tell her to change her plates because they were too short and traffic would fine her.

Wish you could tell them to go and learn the laws it's not ilegal because it's too short officer, it's illegal because it's got no bs mark, manufacturer or postcode.

I have got completely plain plates and only 1 copper has mentioned them, I just said I bought it like it and he didn't say anything further. He was more concerned with the speed I was driving through Central London I think

One guy said I had 7 days to post it off or I'll be in trouble. The back of the VDRS said 14
i asked my sergeant, he said It's just changed and now endorsable

spacing can effect the anpr reading. And It's not like the money goes straight into our back pocket lol, get paid the same regardless how many tickets you give out

I'm not 100% sure but I think your sergeant is wrong.

Normal police don't have a clue about traffic laws.

I bet good money the ANPR can read the plate what ever the spacing. It's clever. What it might have difficulty is with stupid fonts, or misrepresented letters, screws being used etc...

It has to be clever to read between old style, new style, private and motorbike plates.

I mean if it can read 'DG51 FZX', 'T85 4MR' or a simple plate of 'A1' not to mention bike plates that are stacked vertically with both old style and new style reg's then there is a level of clever AI that can distinguish letters on the plate itself whatever the format.

The traffic officer even told me that the ANPR could read my plate fine. With a 3 and 3 spacing made into a 4 and 2 lettering. He just said it was illegal and not the worst he'd seen.

It's the minority taking the piss as usual.

If people didn't have shit fonts and shit plates they had to massively alter we wouldn't have the problem and the rest of us could legally have a smaller plate with a standard font.

My plates are completely plain but have halfords and a postcode etched into them, so it is visible but only if you really look.
