i have been looking for a plate for myself now for a while but cant seem to find one i like or they are already taken, is it possible to ring the dvla and tell them which plate i want and for them to contact the owner with an offer?

has anybody heard of this before, im sure my dad has mentioned something to me about a person had offered him money for his old bike's plate... my nickname is milli to everyone so was trying to find M11 LLY or M11 LEY

There is a site that does do this if someone has a plate that u want, you'll just hav to google it or something, when i had my personal plate i registered on a site and they kept e mailing me with bids from people that wanted it.

I wouldnt think the dvla pass on offers, they only sell what they have.
Ones that spell names/nicknames usually go for a couple grand.

Yeh true, i remember seeing ARM 69, it went for 45k!
Na it wasn't dvla that i was talkin about, cant remember what it was now.

look at dvla auctions.
i bought mine for there alot cheaper, My plate has never been on a car. i payed £1,400 for it and i got it valued at £2,200 this year (got in last year)
