I have a friend who has an 08 plate focus - the bonnet wont open something to do with the cable.. Ford have turned round and said its not covered by warranty any truth in this?

Seems like the dealer is trying it on to me - if it were a VW it would have been fixed no questions asked..

It'l probably be the barell of the lock/faulty catch, happens a lot on new Mondeos aswell. It should be covered under warranty I think.

Try another dealer or ring the Ford Customer Services office up. Sure it will get sorted then

My friends 08 Focus's drivers seat burst wide open at the seam to reveal the foam - hes a wee 8 stone weakling too so its not as if its been abused - ford didnt want to know. hes still fighting it.

contact customer service mate, as that is total bollocks...

the fact that focuses dont have a bonet cable, as the bonet opens via the car key..

they were common to go wrong on the mk1-2 focuses and the mondeo's

tell them to GTF as they are a bunch of idiotic prics..

oh and i worked for ford for 5 years so i know whats going wrong with them lol

Regarding the warranty, if they don't play then there's always trading standards

Dealerships are being wankers at the moment as it's costing them to much money. See so many people having the exact issues with Vauxhall as well.

Its in the dealers interest to do warranty work though cos they get paid by the manufacturer either way dont they? So its guaranteed income?

they're talking bollocks mate.

ford customer service is your first port of call. phone them and let them know whats happening and what dealership it is (address and the name of the person who told you this).

they will get onto the area manager who will then get it sorted asap and possibly give your mate some compensation in the form of a free service/optional extra parts/gift vouchers to spend at ford on fancy gear knobs, sill scuff plates etc.

your friend also has a book with his owners manual/service porfolio which clearly identifies what can be replaced under warranty and what are wear and tear items.

trim is only covered for 12 months but other things are covered up to 3 years, which is what i would say your boot is covered for.
