does the backbox really give u a noticeable power increase or is that just them giving false encouragement to buy it?

Personally can't see a Sportex one would - well any backbox on it's own for that matter.

Plus they're mild steel iirc so will rust quite quickly.

A backbox on its own won't give you any extra power. If it does then it'll be negligible. Maybe on a peoper car with a good backbox and a highly tuned engine it might make some difference, but not on a Corsa.
