172 is the original in that shape, single exhaust, comes in a cup version that has no xenons, climate(a few have climate, including brosters iirc) no cruise, auto wipers and lights, no abs, comes with light wheels and lighter glass.
The 182 is an update with the twin exhausts and has cup packs which are add ons, not like a 172 cup. The trophy is more like the 172 cup.
All of them are the same speed within fractions of a second.

cups don't have the xenons/auto lights/wipers from what i've been told.
confusing as hell to someone whos new to them 
then you've got the trophy to worry about

Normal version of 172 or 182 imo yes.
The other ones aren't that much faster (if at all) to justify having no equipment, this is obviously different if you want a track car.

Cup packs on a 182 are add ons like a spoiler and wheels, don't think it's much more than that.
