Was along at Silverstone today with my boss who was racing in the Nippon Challenge with the Subaru Impreza.
Weather wasn't too good today and the track was very slidey. Aimed to use the race as a test session as we still have a braking issue but due to the weather you can't really stamp on the brakes! A visit to the rolling road on monday found that we had no 4th gear and the centre diff wasn't working so the car was only rear wheel drive - so engine out and gearbox was swapped.
Qualifying was wet and combined with lack of confidence in the brakes and the first time the driver had driven the circuit we didn't set any lightning times.

Race was even wetter, with a few people deciding not race. We knew we weren't going out to win today, so just tried to do some wet weather set up. Tyre pressures were adjusted and dampers set to full soft. During the race visibility was next to nothing, and with a misted front windscreen the driver just took it easy and finished the race. Last place, but second in class

We had thought of packing it in for the day as it was a big risk being on the track in those conditions. Had the car on the trailer then it started to clear up a bit so thought we'd go for it and get more wet weather data.
Had used rain x anti fog on the windscreen in the first race - apply then wipe with a dry cloth to clear shine my arse it didnt work! I lathered it on and left it streaky and this seemed to do the job!
Due to finishing last in the first race we were near the back of the grid for the second race. Got a good start off the grid and we were up to 12th place and beginning to set good times. Then the pace started dropping as the engine developed a problem above 6000rpm. The handling of the car is a bit of an issue aswell as it just didn't seem to generate grip. Think the toe settings were miles out, although this was allegedly checked by some 'vehicle dynamics' students
Lost two places near the end of the race due to a slight moment and finished 14th.

The production spec Imprezas in the Subaru Cup went well all day, probably due to their softer suspension. Plenty of spins aswell as most people struggled to keep it on track!
Will update with pics during the week

I hadn't personally used it before so just applied it how the bottle said - it was shocking! With the spray you could see about 30 yards in front! Absolutely coated the window with it the second time and just left it without wiping better streaky than misty

shame it wasnt dry.... would have been good to see lap times in comparison to Fee's
No idea what mine would do in the dry with 300hp... 1m08 maybe

Yeah I was hoping to use some of the TA lap times as a benchmark - had set him a goal of 1min 10's.

Nice weather for ducks anyway
Was looking at the in car footage earlier and its soooo slow! Couldn't even go fast on the straights as there was no visibility!
Dave and I are out in the 206 at Oulton next weekend...hope it doesn't rain for that!

some of her driving looks a bit... erm.... relaxed.
The accident was unfolding infront of her and she didnt slow much, same with the evo. She had to see that the blue impreza was slowing!
Prob not much she could have done except brake earlier in the first corner, as the other cars were on her left.
