That interior shot isn't of the one we drove, ours had the cloth interior and normal gearbox.

Steve got asked, he was allowed to take someone.
The bloke that took us out for our sighting laps was bigging up the Alpine Course/Track and how good it was, but compared to where I had been for the last 6 days I couldn't share his enthusiasm.
Good day out though none the less, good experience.

I do like the look of the mk6 GTi, but i still can't help thinking that a set of decent rims on a Scirroco would make it look just as good...
Eitherway, the prices of them are horrific in terms of VFM

Is the Scirroco cheaper?
If it is I would also prefer that on some decent springs and a map.
Like you say the GTi certainly isn't value for money at all.

A second hand one would be nice in a few months time. I suspect they will depreciate like mad?

Yeah a second hand one would be ok, but for some reason these VW's hold their value far to well and someone will still be paying over the odds for it.
I suppose the list price for an Astra is 21k but in reality you pay £16,995 but the Astra H is coming to the end of it's life so discounts are higher.
But if you can somehow get the GTi for 18k you are getting closer in terms of VFM deffo.

I'd consider one for my next car. In white of course!

They've got some nice finance deals on at the moment, I'm guessing that most people would buy them, pay something like £200-£300 a month for three or so years and give it back afterwards...

VW could do an R version at a later date like they have with the Scirroco.
Its not all about outright power though
