as said by someone earlier, i after all these years of being on this site cant work out why everybody bases how good a car is by whether it goes around a corner or not, it only really matters on a track to a certain extent...
i fully understand that the feeling of some car's maybe better and the feedback you get but that dont mean your going faster, heres how....
i own a c20xe corsa well known APPARENTLY for its bad feeling and cornering ability's, yet me and my friend with his 106 gti had numerous tussles round b-roads and there was nothing in it tbh....
and again i also own astra mk4 gsi and i do agree there boring to drive but my other friend has a ctr and with numerous more tussles on b-roads in the past there's nothing in it, all of us being about the same ability skill wise....
it really dont matter if civic can corner 0.12secs faster on a specific corner does it.
i bought the gsi for a nice car for me and the mrs to use daily and for holidays driving in europe and which can be used for bit of fun at the same time... my conclusion DID NOT COME DOWN TO WHETHER IT CONERED FASTER THAN A CIVIC i mean come on peeps there roads not race tracks ffs

yeah it does go abit over the top sometimes. all i want out of this new car is something with a 'bit of bite' condsidering ive had 2 corsas 1.4 and 1.2, so wheather it goes fast round a corner means nothing to me because i have no intention of crashing my new car lol

all i would say is the when cars like these two are compared it always come down to cornering on this website....
there are alot more issues such as looks/comfort/servicing/general costs/insurance/toys etc etc etc NOT WHETHER IT BEATS A CIVIC ROUND A CORNER OR NOT.

well i have drove a ctr and they are capable cars, i HATED THE LOOKS but apart from that they are ok.
for me the gsi fitted what i wonted out of a car better, as i previously said me and the mrs use it daily, its fairly spacious, has all the toys we need, its comfy, its nippy, its been extremely reliable for me only bin serviced in 2 years thats all no problems, and it does corner as good as i expect it to.

gsi turbo if your wanting something with 'a bit more bite' then mate. to get the best out of a ctr you have to get it to around 6k until the vtec comes in. if i had a car i had spent well earned money on, i would feel really guilty about thrashing it that much just to feel the power it has.
had a go in my brothers gsi turbo last night and tbh it put the biggest smile on my face ever i think i have actually fell in love with the car.
fair enough a ctr is japanese and they are amazing for their reliability. but once they go wrong, its expensive to fix. i.e, my mates gearbox bearings went in his civic 1.6 sport and cost around £800 to get it sorted
i think what you're going to have to do is test drive them both back to back until you have decided on which one best suites your driving style
