Why do they make a 140 bhp model and a 180 model what they do to make the power from 140 to 180 ? im looking at getting the 140 model because its cheaper just wondering if its easy to make it the same power a the 180 version? cheers

i herd the 180 have a kind of v-tec?? dont know how true it is ?

The 180 is the far better car. It has improved suspension with bigger ARBs, rear bracing and has stability and traction control.
The 138 isn't that far off it handling wise or speed wise.
The engines use the same EW10J4 block but the 180 has in improved head with bigger valves, improved combustion chamber design and VVT.
It is very easy to get a 138 to the same power as a 180. for a start, the 180 is more like 170bhp. A set of weber 45's and mappable ignition will get 190 bhp for little over £800.
Due to the equal length drive shafts they don't suffer as much from torque steer, but really would benefit from an LSD.

the 206 gti 180 isnt 180 bhp
they down tuned it from the factory to 145 bhp if i remeber correctly as they werent reloable at all,
even tho the 2.0 engines are forged from the factory!
newer registrations dont even have the 180 badge on it as they wernt aloud to call it the 180 anymore,
i done a training program on it at work quite some time ago
it was saying how its beem underated due to the power they was suposed to produce,
im sure they do quater miles in about 16-17 seconds too

later 138bhp models came with traction and esp aswell
not much difference between the two on the road but the 180 will pull away over 90
as its a higher revving engine

Pish,theyr is no way they are as low as 145bhp and they will do the 1/4 in high 15s.

mate Jacko got 206 gti 180 with jujst exhaust and filter and he was running 15's allday at Kirkbride by end of day he was into 14's

Ive heard that the engine runs around 165bhp-180bhp, a lot of GTi 180 owners have seen those kind of figures on a rolling road.
Ive never seen a GTi 180 without the badge on the back, unless the owner removes the badge, they were sold as GTi 180s until they ended production.

in our peugeot dealership i have only every seen about 9 206's with 180 badges,
but fair enough must just be down my end of the country,
will have to query the training program next time i go on a course

i had the 140 and it was a good little car, rear torsion bar went tits up and its a full rear axle to replace, expensive. half leather seats are nice but should of been more supportive
