Some pics from the weekend. Car went well with no problems, just a lack of grip with over-used tyres
Qualified 14th with a 59.6. Had an awful start though, was starting on a downward slope, so had the handbrake on. 5 second board came out so I clicked the button on the hand brake and the car started creeping put the handbrake back on then as soon as i did lights went out so I just dumped loadsa revs lost about 6 places
Was first time driving Brands and Paddock is a bit daunting, kinda pussied about the first few laps getting back into a rythmn and was soon on it again making up a few places.
Driver change and pit stop was well practiced, car was stopped 15 seconds for the driver change - quickest we have ever done it and quicker than the rest of the field!
Made up a few places with that, and it was the 2nd time the other driver had ever driven the car but he did well and was soon on it. Had a slight off on the 2nd last lap but it didn't lose us any places thankfully.
Finished in 13th which is the best we could have done with the grid that was there. A small blue XR2i was absolutley flying, I couldn't believe the lap times it was putting in!

Yeah Paddock is epic! Didn't really push it through there, tyres went off and car was understeering as you hit the apex Could go through there a lot quicker, but its not my car

Out of interest, what series are you racing in? is it just uni's allowed? what are the regs? quite a mix of cars out there? what class are you in and what are the regs on it?
I'm looking for a basic standard production class series to enter... Something like minimum weight, maximum power limits.

No more pics of the Nova, it was uber cool though!
We race in Classic Sports Car Club Tin Tops. It's a national series, not just for uni's. Regs are pretty relaxed - no sequential boxes, list 1A/1B tyres, no turbos and up to 2000cc. We run in Class A - up to 2000cc multivalve.

Yeah they race with us, never spoken to them though.
Fees are £265 for the races. 30mins practice qualifying then 40min race.

what sort of cars run in Class B?
I'm thinking of building a 1.6 16v multivalve car for it

205 GTi, 216 GTi, CRX etc.
If you go on TSL timing you can have a look through results etc and see which cars are competitive.

What you got in mind?
I'd personally go Turbo Diesel and destroy everyone, but then they would probably change the regs after that.

good stuff.... I can only imagine how daunting paddock must be surrounded by other cars
How do you find racing a leftie?

More pics in the snappyracers link above.
My mate spun it the first time he went round paddock! I was a bit more cautious!
With other cars around you find yourself giving away places because you dont want to take any risks
Don't really notice that you're driving a leftie really. I've never punched the door going for a gear anyway

i suppose you just get used to it. Prob gives more visibility on clockwise right handers
Paddock - looks like he just poofed out and lifted! Hello rear!
