I've just bought a cheap runabout, but didn't get the log book.
Its not got tax, is there anyway of getting road tax without having to wait for a new V5 to come from the DVLA? (I have applied for a log book, but this will take up to 6 weeks to come)

Have you got the V5C part? (small green tear off slip)

Nope. Nothing at all.
He's going to look for the v5 tonight, if he can get the v5c then it'll be fine.
It looks like it'll be a long wait then....

Yep as pow says technically illegal.. You need to go to the DVLA and get a D11 or what ever it is now to request a new V5C.. Going to be a bit of a mission without the new owners slip.

I wouldn't normally buy a car without the V5, but this was cheap and was through an auction so I'm covered if its stolen, got hpi or whatever.
I've been to the DVLA and have applied for a new log book.
Just wondered if there was a loop hole to get it taxed quicker.
No problem, I'll just wait.
Thanks!

you can get the new logbook quicker by applying by phone instead of posting the form
