A couple of people have said its a new 'mid block' engine but pleanty of other sources say its a family 1 engine (small block)
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Family_I#Z16LET
Does anyone have a reliable source? I'm really interested in aborting my 1.8 ITB build and getting my hands on a Corsa D SRI/VXR block.

It's a family 1 engine, Chris Astley found it had a Z16XEL block IIRC.

Yeah that was my assumption.. Same as the 1.8 too, internal breather jobby.. Thinking about getting the 1.6 block and running on stand alone management, factory management is out of the question being CANBUS.

What bhp are they standard? touque any good? why you keen on having a 200bhp 1.6 over the 1.8?
didnt the fact it being canbus keep you away from the 1.8 canbus (cant remeber engine code)

The VXR is 190 IIRC.. Will be alot more reliable than a tuned 1.8.

I passed summer checking what I need for conversion and found interesting fact as the z16ler/let cylinder head is similar to the daewoo head and we had fitted one on x16xe which is straight in and has a lower CR = 9:1 ideal for turbo application !

will fit a small block fly and box but i dont think an f15 would last long thats why i have a custom fly to use a 2.0 clutch and f20 box. doesnt have the 3 stud mount on the front either its on the side
