Havent read through all the above, but my mate had one for a while. It was decent ride quality, pretty slow for a BMW 0-60 is about 11.5 i think. Not the best looking car either in my opinion.
They do seem to age well though (although im sure there are some shitters about) cos his had nothing wrong with it, nothing broken or falling off, nothing, it was a '96 with 100k

I find the only problem with these old 3 series is every foreigner and his dog seems to drive them about, the car looks good, they however crumble its reputation into nothing

Any e36 coupe at 18 is a bonus TBH, I would say insurance TPFT would still be around £1500.
