Just takes a while for one to come up. Took me a while to find mine. Got it with low miles and full services history for £850

Was a bit scruffy

but nothing serious, £300 in the body shop and alot of polish saw it looking reet

Just make sure:

apart from the obvious surface rust make sure the pillers arnt cracked and the underside isnt going rotten paticuarly the chassis legs.

And that the engine isnt an oil burner as they are the two biggest killers that cost ££ to put right

Also if your not dead set on having a gsi a 1.6 sport will get you more car for your £££ and be newer

its all a bit of a myth really. Just as likely to break as a 12 year old corsa and you get good and bad ones.

They are alot more involving to drive then corsas and the vts's are quicker.

Drive one and if you like it I would be swayed to go with one. Although its all personal taste I didnt as I couldnt live with the pedals been so close

if it where me, id get a newer better equipped sport and put a gsi kit on it, or find one done

Older the car the more chance it will have done a fair few miles and some of them are 15+yrs old now so need a bit of tlc. Most bits are cheap or availible second hand.

As Gav said, check the usual bits, but chassis legs are prone to rotting so have a nose underneath!

if ure dead set on a gsi...go get a sport and pop a gsi kit on it...not alot of difference surely? and less likely to have the miles/time to be abused with it! vtr/vts'/gti's are great, ive had nothing but trouble with my vts but only minor things that to be honest i really dont mind...i paid £1800 for my vts with 68k on the clock (before the credit crunch) its alot more involving for the driver, strange at first to swap from a car that understeers to oversteering...but cudnt imagine going back now unless the was a let invovled and a nice suspension setup. Luck of the pick with the frenchies... 1 thing i wud say wud be prepared to have to do some work yourself

gotta agree there are alot of dogs around now and if you really going to keep it you could pick up a low mileage sport with fully electrics and possibly even a/c then just chuck the gsi kit on it

its unbelievable how many gsi's have got cracked pillars or bent back doors

common on all corsas though

id buy a proper gsi. id not buy a sport then spend more making it a gsi. its all about what you want, not a replica.

My girlfriend is selling her GSI if you're interested. It's a 1995 and it's got about 90k on the clock. The wheels and suspension has been changed but still have the originals.

Why dont you get a 2000 reg sport(as said), with a new inlet manifold & de-ecotec it, gsi kit it then get a private plate on, say an M reg, to finish off the rep, making it look like a 1995 reg
