Haha. I mean the times were consistant. All the xes that day were doing mid 15s, there was a few. Based on weight it doesnt take much to bring a GTI to XE standard in a straight line, its on the corners the GTI really has the upper hand though. I dont think there is much competition in it.

Yeah... I agree with butler... 99% of XE's I've ever seen go down pod have done 15.1-15.5's... there are some rare one's which do better than that, but most XE's = 15.5's...

Generally 106 gti = Quicker to say 60, XE = quicker after 70.

Rory's XE was one of the rare one's doing 14.4! I used to race Rory loads in my 106 Gti and we were fairly level on the road.

The 106 gti handles beautifully though (if you know how to drive), and responds so well to simple mods... with just exhaust + filter mine did 15.3 1/4 mile and with suspension mods handled brilliantly...

but if you have one long term, I definately recommend a LSD - best mod I had. I miss my gti

The first one is unmapped probably made 145-155 bhp max...

The second '180 bhp' one, is complete crap... max 160 bhp.

There was a thread on 106owners about that one, the lad who owned it had a dastek for it I think, but didn't bother wiring it up as it made good power on the rollers without it.

P.s. There's a good chance the rollers were out though.
