it will gain power as the gases will flow easier. it shouldnt be a problem as they dont take up much more room, just mount the fan in front of the rad if theres a problem

big valves
ported head
wasted stems
match manifolds to ports
raised revs
higher octane fuel (mapped on it)
steel crank (rev more)
steel rods (rev more)
stronger bolts eg ARP (rev more)
forged high compression pistons
full exhaust
knife edged crank.

not cheap at all, just headwork with no cams or anything would set you back over a grand.
all that with TBs would get you 200bhp+
8k or more but then you need different valve springs and retainers and for mental cams you need solid lifters.

you can get cams which work better at say 4k-8k or ones that run from 2.5k-6k etc
so if you car revs to 8k you need ones to suit.

dont believe in a knife edged crank...too much hype for me to of even thopught about doing it!

my 20xe with slippers, rods, valves, solid lifters tb's blah blah blah will owe about £6.5k and i do all my own headwork etc.

i built a relatively stock let head ported on solid lifters, steel caps, dual springs few other bits, cost mate tad under £1k!

simple question is:

1. how much you want to spend?
2. how much power do you want?

torque is what you need. i could prob spec a decent motor for you depending on budget, but its either pay or compromise if dont want to spend 'as much'

its not 'if' your car revs to 8k, its where you want the power, and build the motor too suit. like saying you put cams that will peak at 9k, doesnt mean rest of the engine will rev to that!
