Piston had gone on my megane sport 225, was ooking at a total rebuild, but managed to find a garage who had a low mileage engine to replace it with.
£1200 and could have a 19k engine put in, not too bad i thought.
then the garage phoned me tonight and said we have some bad news....
the turbo has gone aswell, and what has probably happened is the oil pump has gone causing the turbo to go
so an extra £700 for a new turbo bringing the total to £1900
Hope its worth it, better drive good when i get it back

no idea tbh tom, your guess is as good as mine, this is the garage guessing the cause as they say the bottom end is banging, i'm not that hot on how engines work but i'm guessing if the oil pump goes the engine seizes up due to oil starvation and thats why the turbo has gone?

its the nicest car i have driven, plenty of power when you need it, you can cruise in 6th gear at 80 on the motorway and it feels like you are going 50, loads of leg room, which is important for me as i am 6'4, in my corsa i had to stop every hour to stretch my legs

surely better off fitting a second hand engine (complete) from a crashed car? £1,900 on repairing a 5 year old car is just insane.
