This is my plan - in my cars current visual state, there is no point selling it as I'd get naff all for it, so I'll planning on SORNing it, sticking it in my parents garage until I get the money to sort the paint etc, and getting something like a Fabia vRS for a daily driver

paul, go the clio route. you've seen mine. 30k miles now with no real issues, use it on track and as a daily drive. just keep on top of looking after the brakes and regular fluid changes, get the belts done in good time and it's all good.

the ctr would do the same job I'm sure, but the clio is definitley the cheaper option.

oh and if your 106 is paid for, garage it keep it, pretty sure the 106gti bubble has burst.

mine's been on PH for a while now with a new engine and it's just not shifting.

I agree ctr would do the same as a clio...

I'm thinking of a s2000.

I know you'll struggle to sell any car at the moment, and i can expect the same with a 106, but I may just strip the 106. The parts market for 106's are very active, I'd still get £500 for a LSD'd gearbox as it'd cost people a fair bit more to get one and fit it.

Same with most of the bits I've got.

Realistically I could set the car back to standard and sell it for 1k, and sell the bits for 1-1.5k.

Just guaging interest at the mo. Imo as it currently stands on track, I feel (have experience) that my car is more capable than a CTR / Clio. So not sure i'd want to go down that route as i'd end up with a similar car to what i have now.

see your point
it's a debate done to death elsewhere. owning both I'd take the clio over the 106 in a second, but that's personal preference.

It sounds like you have your heart set on some form of vtec fun anyway, so I'd get rid of the gti however gets you the most cash, spend a few k on an dc2 integra and have that as the track weapon, and find a 2k workhorse.

You read the thread MGM? the problem is only can have 1 car.

Yeh if i was offered a 106 or a clio I'd take a clio over it - but it's a lot of effort to sell the 106, just to buy a clio which will be about the same car.

yes, and there was discussion of a garage which is a good option. cheapest long term if you intend to do a LOT of track time.
It's certainly easier than having to chase around the next day trying to get hold of new tyres at short notice. or any parts for that matter, just to be able to carry on using the car on the road legally.

if its one car and one car only, dc5 integra would be my choice.
