On an x16xe.

Ground the lip and made it alot more direct round and polished it up inside.

Shame it will only get all oiled up within a few minutes but oh well.

Anyone else done this?

Air flows better over the surface that's provided when the part is originally cast.

Perhaps the Airflow needs the turbulence provided by rough casting.

i read a similar thing on a honda forum, thats polished internals on an intake doesnt allow fuel to atomize correctly, but, i dont know.

Ive heard that theory on fuel not mixing right but when people have headwork the ports get polished so its a see how it goes situation.

I had a guy fitting an enlarged throttle body on his Integra the other day...had to laugh as there was now a big step in diameter between the throttle and plenum which will result in a vena contracta meaning hes effectively just fitted a restrictor

Just get a fine wire brush and rough up the inside, as previously stated, a mirror finish isn't desired on the input side. a slightly roughened surface is best
