Being completely honest...
21, 1 NCB and 3 points. My 60 year old nan added as a driver...
All mods declared, although the only option for the engine change was 'ENGINE - NON-STANDARD'
Out of 77 insurers, 75 wouldn't offer a quote...
HSBC offered £750 TPTF...
I think that's pretty bang on, but it's so vague... I could have changed the engine to a 12v engine, or a 5lt, twin-turbo, 1,500bhp engine. 
How do you lot get insured on XE's? Just like that or do you make sure they understand completely? Technically, I've done everything correctly and I've been 100% honest...

Ring them up for a quote, dont rely on the internet when it comes to stuff like that.

But it's just some call centre kid using a very similar form... Do they actually have options for different engines and that?

Confused hasn't got the ability to quote for modded cars, even if you get a quote I doubt it would be honoured by the insurance company.
You need to do it old school and get on the phone

They will decide and write down every detail, if you say its a c20xe from whatever, they will be able to put that down on the quote. It may come out the same price but then your insurance cert will state what exact engine it has.

saying that, it is a 1949 Alvis
I had to ring a specialist insurer as I couldn't get a quote from most insurers as its over 25 years old.
anyway my quote with footman james is £198 fully comp!
