I cant keep a steady speed i can acelerate but when i try to keep it ie 30mph it jumps forward and back and the revs sit about 1500 on idle
 I dont even know what to look for any help would be great

similar on my girlfriends car (1.4 sport)
paperclip ecu test said it was crank shaft sensor and fuel pump, changed the sensor n runs a bit better but gotta change fuel pump, cos it smells a bit to. guna see what happens then. maybe try them, or coil pack,leads, plugs???

help zone and remember if the engine is off it will always show the crank shaft sensor so do the test with the car running

sounds like the idle control valve to me maybe sticking
