Why VAG?

Can get 1.7 / 2.0 Astra DTis cheap as anything these days, same with Peugeot and Citroens, french diesels are supposed to be good etc etc

Like the feel of VAG - Its solid

I'd be tempted in an astra DTi also, but not as a long term thing I dont think.

Remapped diesel tdi engine and it will still be fun when you want to have a little play but you can still have those leisurely drives

In the corsa i can only imagine wanting to give it death ALL the time.

Ive got a 'normal' car just now - Golf PD 130.

I love it & tbh its been ideal for my needs the past 18 months but I got a shot of my workmates cooper S today & its made me realise how much I want something fast with a turbo!!

My toledo, which is basically an A3, is surprisingly not noisy until you're well over motorway speed limit.

I've got a MK5 Golf 1.9 TDI. Lovely car, much prefer it to both my previous Corsas, more useable power from low down and brilliantly economical, though you won't be bothered about that.....

put your interior back in.

a 2ltr corsa would make a great daily drive imo.

my nova was spot on just to small and old
corsa would be spot on imo

Went from the XE to the Golf.

I do miss the corsa sometimes (e.g golf can't handle for shit, and the rawness / shock factor of the corsa) But i got old man syndrom and wanted something newer, smoother and quieter Still has a lot of pull (quicker than corsa on 1/4) and can be a nice comfy cruiser

I didn't have a 2 litre Corsa but the rest of it e.g. bumpy suspension, loud exhaust and how small the car was got to me in the end.

Sometimes miss how raw the Corsa felt in comparison but the A3 is so much nicer to use on a daily basis, I definately wouldn't swap back

Been there, done that, had fun but grown up a bit, nothing wrong with that!
