Do you have to wait for the seller to change the papers for the plates at the DVLA.

Can you just buy the car, swap them, drive home and have the car then wait for them to be changed over?

To be legal you need to wait for all the paperwork.

That's a bit bad.

I'd have insurance for the car and the plates will be what (should be by now) are the ones for that car.

I just don't want to wait any longer and I really do need it before friday and 100% before the end of the month as the TAX runs out on my Corsa

Why can't you just buy the car....drive it till the new plates come then swap your insurance over?

That would work, some insurance companies charge an admin fee for the change, Bell charge about £13.

Guy who bought my car took it with the private plate on.

When i wanted it transferred it was a right ball-ache, i had to provide my log book, MOT certificate, VIN plate no and Chassis No from my car, he had to do the same.

Took a lot of planning from both of us, good job he was an understanding chap.

I didn't know you could do that. There's one in Sheffield about 30mins from the guys house in Doncaster.

He's already sent it all off anyways. I'm just really impatient.
