well its that time of the year when i service the car again,

I usually get my oil from halfords as i have a trade card, i usually get the orange bottle 10/40, but wondering if i should go for the better oil for once maybe oart synthetic or the 5/40 full synthetic.

Is it really necessary

I wouldn't be using that orange bottle, thats mineral oil IIRC - I'd be using the green 10W40 part synthetic stuff.

15w40 is also fine I switched to it when mine started burning oil

However 10w40 would be better as its thinner for cold starts

I had 5w30 in my car for a while and it seemed to burn a bit more oil.

Had 10w40 before Christmas and it hasn't lost a drop.

C is a newer engine though and the tolerances will be better so 5w30 should be fine

Vauxhall charged me retail price of 14.10 inc vat for 5 litres of 10/40 semi synth and an oil filter. Bargain

I just tell people to take the 10w/40...
