If you can't get insured on a VTR, theres no chance you'll get insured on a mk1 Focus ST.

Works for me too, I can insure an ST170 for something like £800FC but I have to ring through for a quote on a VTS/GTI, one site gave me a quote of over £1000, only mugs pay £1000 to insure a hatchback

Really? I see...

The focus ST170 is a great car. Its got variable valve timing too, so it sounds good at higher revs. Handles like its on rails too. Brilliant chassis.

Thought I would try a ST170, 6k. Hmm I'll stick with the normal 2.0 one then

2.0 are worse on fuel and slower than a 1.7 puma

My and my best mate had a few plays rolling start from 20, 30 , 40 mph to like 120 and puma was quicker every time.

I woud get the 1.8 for fuel efficieny, and the fact you dont get much more power in the 2.0

Went to a dealers today, got a drive in a 2.0 Zetec, was a 53 plate with about 26k on the clocks. I didn't like the drive at all, the seat didn't go low enough for me, everything felt really spaced out (eg gearstick felt far away from me). Clutch was really springy, bite was stupidly high and really short travel, brakes had no feel and the throttle felt it had more travel than the clutch!. Main thing though is it didn't feel faster than my Ibiza though. Didn't like it one bit!
