ffs looking at the m3 thread. I have no fucking idea whats going on in the world of audi/mercedes/bmw.

cant they give there cars proper names rather than a random selection of words/digits ffs.

They are model numbers, much like Corsa B Corsa C etc.

He's on about E30 3 series or E36 or E46 or E90

5 series E34 or E39 or E60

Ah yeah the E bollocks is a bit of a pain cos it seems like they just use random numbers ie. 3 series ones, E30, E36, E46, E90, where's the pattern, obviously the older models have a lower number but when new models come out it seems to be a completely random number which could relate to a 3, 5, 7 series or whatever. It does seem a strange system

That's the really irritating one they've done, BMW 316 is a 1.9, 323 is a 2.5. It used to be right where the 316 was a 1.6, I don't get the point in changing it.

never understood mercs/bmw's i'll keep it that way, far too confusing.

i just look at them and hope that someone else knows all the techncal stuff.

tbh Volkwagens are confusing. Everyone refers to them as Mk1 Mk2 Mk3 etc, but don't they have crazy codes like 6N or something?!

mk2 saxo mk1 mk2 etc is the easiest. trusty french
