this is not a joke!!

a mate of a mate bought a ripspeed cone filter the other day from halfords and 'fitted' it to his 106 1.1, we met up with him later on that evening and he was saying that its not made any difference in noise etc

so i popped the bonnet and had a look, first thing was the airbox still fitted , i said have you swapped it back over? no no its inside

i clipped the airbox lid off and he had just dropped the cone filter in the airbox..

what the hell have you done here i burst out laughing, he was like how do you fit the filters then..

fook me how thick can some people be..

anybody else had experiences like this?

So he had just took the old filter out and put that one in? that would of made a difference in sound though

Some people just aren't mechanically minded in the slightest. At least he will learn from it.

I've had a few funny emails today on this subject!

This was sent regarding some MSc Motorsport Engineering students:

"The Motorsport Masters students with the obvious exception of **** & ****, should not be let within throwing distance of a spanner!

I found one of them lying on top of the R6 which he had just thrown on the floor trying to get it off the paddock stand.

The brake lever as well as the bodywork is now damaged

After I spend a whole day setting up the data acquisition system for them, they unplugged all the connectors then reconnected all the sensors to different channels??? Then asked me why the Gyro was being effected by the application of the brake lever!!!!

**** spent a day checking the bike was safe for him to ride, since then, the "Masters" students have been all over it again which means we have to again check every nut and bolt on the bike before **** can take in around Bruntingthorpe.

The undergrads start off on air motors and now RC cars, and build up "some" practical sense by the time we let them loose on vehicles. This lot need to be given a Mechano set to play with for a few months!

I'm sure academically, this lot are brilliant, but the marbles are missing from the practical side of their brain!"
