Had a ride down to avalible car. Had no intension of buying anything just something to do
Test drove a 2007 clio 197 for £9999 in the light blue with 32k on the clock
Also test drove a 2007 Red fiesta ST with blacked out windows (no strips) fro £8999 with 17k on the clock
I think the clio is a brilliant car. Steering is very direct - throttle responce is brilliant, even in higher gears at low revs, it just pulls! Sound awesome too. Everything is relative to how much input you give it to. (ie it turns vritually where you point it, brakes arent stupid responsive to the slighest touch etc). My ideal car. Got finace sorted on it but im not perpaired to pay the stupid insurance! Im not scrimping to run around in a car
Fiesta st - didnt like it. Didnt think it were quick (i couldnt feel any speed diff to my puma). Interior : seats are brilliant, the plastics are terrible (makes the renault look like is a german car). Driving posistion didnt think was very good. Clutch had no feel at all. Didnt think it handled particualy brilliantly either. Really overated car tbh
Random i know, but what do people think of them?
Said cars

Ner they dint have any! Im can just afford them, but the insurance would be the same to buy it every month - which i am not willing to do
Just thought why not have a look sort of thing
Really impressed with the clio. It was loads better than what i was expecting where as the fiesta is loads worse than what i was expecting

People just 'think' the fiesta st will be good because of the 'ST' name and '150 bhp in a small car'...
Fact is... it's shit and slow.

Fiesta overrated? I don't think I've ever heard someone praise one tbh
Clio would definitely be the one to have

fiesta is a great handling car on eibachs springs. it's obviously going to be slower than a 197bhp clio

OOOO defensive ford owner
Yer obv, but i wasnt compairing them for speed i know that the fiesta would be slower - i mean everything else. Build quality, handling, braking and the drive in general tbh.
Im just saying ive never driven a petrol N/A, where when you change up a gear to cruise, (ie 4th at say 40mph) stamp on the throttle and it starts pulling lad mad.
Think about it. super mini is the catagory they are both in? They are both the sporty specs. The clio is miles better. And even brand new there is only 1k difference, you would expect more from the fiesta.

This is what i was referring to. I can think of 4 different lads not to far away who think they are the bollocks.
And they have a smug face when they say
' i drive a fiesta....ST '
I sat there thinking i have got to try one out to see what people are talking about. My friend who i went with, he took a fabia vrs out.
He comes back saying it was stupid quick for a little diesel etc, then the salesman said it had been remapped
Gutted which i had took that out now!

hardly i'll be the first to slag off ford built quality because my car's been falling to bits since i bought it new and the fact i see what gets sent through to ford customers every day at work and it makes me sick
p.s. the fiesta st 185 is the rival for the 197

The blue on the clio is a cracking colour and I think they look very butch with the wide arches and vents in the wings
The ST is a great lookin car as well but the performance for a 2ltr car is very poor which is a shame
