I agree with all you say barring that. I drove one of each at the same dealership. I dont think there was really anything in it tbh. only difference is where the varible cams switch on them. on the clio its lower but the civic has shorter gearing so they felt roughly the same imo
Saying this if someone offered me a clio I would be more then happy as I love both.
Ben drive one and see what you think
Just shop around as I found that they vary greatly. I drove a few and some felt like completly different cars to each other (all ff 182's btw )

The car just isn't put together very well or built from decent materials, I don't know how else to explain that it's just not.
i personally found the clutch stupidly heavy

I've just got a 172 and can vouch for that, the clutch is stupidly heavy.

What are peoples thoughts on the Clio's versus a Fiesta ST (mark 6 are they?) with a bit done to it like full exhaust inc manifold and decat, induction etc.
Little bit slower maybe but how about quality and what they're like to drive?
Only had minimal experience of a 172 cup but not any Fiesta ST's or 182's etc... interested in both cars myself

Ford probably have better interior and materials, personally i don't buy a hot hatch for material quailty...
Clio will beat the ST in everything else.

ST is pretty slow for the class of engine - they should/could have made it a lot quicker than it is TBH.

The mountune ones sound fun though
I suppose I'm personally after a sensible, semi comfortable day to day car which I can still gun about and it feel focused with loads of feedback as well as being cost effective overall.
Best of both worlds kinda guy me lol

TBH, if you can give it back and lose nothing I would do that. You will lose a silly amount of money if you keep it and sell it not long after!

Ben G quick question is the 182 going to be big enough for you? if you think about it the focus is quite abit bigger

Maybe, but a whole second slower on the road to 60, and feels it - at least it does the few I've been in......

the fiesta st is a fair bit slower and uninspiring in std guise, cams inlet and exhaust make a vast improvement tho.
