As some of you will know, my dad rolled the Focus RS on new years eve. The car was a write off, so he's been talking with the insurance company for the past few weeks and trying to get them to offer a good figure.

It was a 2003 car with 14,000 miles (iirc), totally perfect condition.

He got a cheque for £14,000 today, and might be getting an extra £500 for travel expenses. I'd say thats a pretty good deal

Now he's just got to decide what to spend the money on

The pay out seems good but would it get him the same car again?

Yeah, thats what he based the figure on. basically he told the insurance company what he wanted, and he got it (well nearly what he wanted)

Any suggestions of cars to replace it with?

I'm quite tempted to suggest an Escort Cosworth. Should get a good one with that money, and won't loose much cash either.

that would be a backwards move in my opinions. I thought he is getting a focus rs? I would just keep the money tbh

Yeah, hes getting a new RS, but he wasn't selling the mk1 to get the new one, so we're still a car down.

Tell him to throw abit more at an Escos, he wont lose money on it. I doubt he would even put many miles on it considering he has other cars to use.

The only problem i can see with him having a Cossie is, he'd want to treat it like the porsche and he'd be put off on using it on anything other than a dry sunny day.

I'd love to have one in the houseold though. It would finish the garage line-up perfectly
