I wouldn't unless it was something special, people aren't too truthful imo.
Saying that, 2 of my cars have went down south, both have flew up and taken the car away from the airport, latest one was a guy from somerset last thursday and he loved the car.

I have travelled to dealers but I you are massively disadvantaged going there for a private sale if it turns out to be a shed. Not talking about the cars you are considering because I don't know them but you can't drive that way and expect to haggle.

I drove from Cardiff to Liverpool to Sunderland and back to Liverpool in one day roughly 520 miles, and then back to Cardiff the day after 200ish miles for a Corsa B, I must of been mad!

end of February I'm going to drive 1700miles + a flight of 3hours to buy a car! buying a car from the UK and driving across Europe to Malta! still almost half what it would cost from Malta and the added value of the experience

furthest I travelled was to Bristol. Furthest people have travelled to buy a car off me is middlesborough and Wigan.
I wouldn't travel that far again.

I have consider cars from all around the country and nearly bought a xe corsa from 'cody as you fifers call it 
But i got my corsa 2 miles down the road, puma from a lad at my mates work about 10 miles away and my bravo in my opposite direction
Also went to crewe for a escort which broke down on the way home...so left it
