renewal come in for the corsa (still declared as fully modded with throttle bodies etc etc)

last year at 19, 1year ncb - £900 with breakdown cover

this year, 20, 2year ncb, renewal price - £816

so ring up, get a new quote for a standard 1.4, £545

but the best bit, for my new car with 400 more cc (1.8) is only about £750, cheaper than orginal quote of a 1.4!!

and he said, that because they dont use that insureance company anymore, so thats why its cheaper

Because it has a bigger engine doesn't mean it has to cost more to insure.

no, the fact that they quoted me £816 for a 1.4 on throttle bodies

then only want about £700-£750 for a 1.8 on throttle bodies with alot higher spec

I'm with Sky insurance on the 1.8.. Could not fault them! Every modification is listed and insured.

Great company and great staff!

Lol beat this then. When i was insured with Flux my XE Corsa was just over £1k with all convictions and mods declared.I sold the car and got a fiesta as a runabout.Called up to switch it over.It was only £2 a month cheaper for the fiesta.I was like, how is that possible when the Corsa was modified, and had about 3 times more power than the 1.3 fiesta. They said it was because the company only specialised in modified cars and because the fiesta was standard, theyr price was crazy.

So when i got my Mk3 Golf,i phoned up for a quick quote. The best that came back was about £1k more than the Corsa, and it was with the same company who insured the Corsa.Yet the Golf was standard(so much for them only insuring modified cars eh).I then asked why it was so expensive and the woman was like "its because it has a 2.0 engine"
I couldnt be arsed explaining about the Corsa and that it was cheaper so i just said OK and hung up.
Fuked up or what.

i use flux and have done for years, they are a BROKER not an ins. Company. Therefore they obtain a list from their partners of prices and give you the best. The deals arent theirs, they are highway, sun alliance etc.

A cars engine size is not the only factor in insurance pricing. Many older cars are more expensive to insure due to more of them likely to be involved in claims and payouts etc over the years since launch. They will have no prev data with new cars and no risk trends/patterns. Also the older the car the harder it is to get parts? Might be another reason but thats speculation.

Flux have my upmost support, always helpfull brilliant in advising me in my claim 3yrs ago etc. Cheaper for me than anywhere else constantly.

Left them to go with Elephant on my Z3 (£1.4k diff in price) but straight back with them for my M3.

the reason why they will be different is you need to take into fact they wil use different insurers for your quotes, each insurer have there own rules and regs, and thats is what it goes by.

credit crunch wil not help with the problems either.
