My Dad is in the process of taking his private reg off the car and putting it on retention so he can put it on his new car when he buys it. Just wanting to find out how long this process takes?

He sent all the documentation off to Swansea today so just wondering when I should be receiving the retention form back as he needs to take it over to the dealership where he is buying his new car so they can transfer it onto that.

i took mine off my car a month ago, and it took a few weeks to be all sorted..

DVLA don't seem too busy at the minute.

I sent off to get my reg transferred, usually takes 2-4weeks, i had it back in 2 days!

They told me last Thursday a week to 10 days, I hope it's less because the car goes away in under a week.

He should have got the dealership to deal with it all, or transfered it straight over to that car instead of paying extra for retention.

funny you should say that

dad forgot to post the envelope today so were doing that instead now
