Hiya people!

Sold my car around a month and half ago and the lad said he'd send the logbook off so me being me said fairy snuff you do that...Now i've recieved the reminder! What do i do now? I've tried ringing but no answer! Could i declare it sorn? i don't want a fine for not retaxing

If you have sold the car (presuming the logbook has been sent) Just ignore the letter, IIRC it actually says it on the back.

Just phone up & tell them you sent them the V5 when you sold the car 6 weeks ago.

I trusted the lad to send the logbook off! obviously he hasn't sent it! i've just recieved a txt back saying he's retaxing so thats ok

I'm sure you should of got a letter to confirm you dont own the car anymore once they change the logbook into the new owners name? Or am I making that up?

You right Mat, the DVLA send you a letter saying that the car is no longer in your name.

Next time you sell a car mate send the V5 back yourself, only costs the price of a stamp and at least you know its done

You're supposed to send it off yourself anyway, you give them the small green slip on the opposite page!

whilst i agree with the fact you should always send the log book off yourself, i have done this and recieved a tax reminder since the log book is sent. The confirmation from the DVLA about change of ownership takes forever to come through and i guess the tax things are automated and printed weeks in advance.

it would still be a good idea to ring the dvla and have a word because your still liable if he hasnt sent it
